The Bronze Reception Desk is located at the 55 Grosvenor Street, a seven storey office building in London’s Mayfair. The Patalab designed desk is the new artistic centrepiece of the ground floor entrance lobby. It responds in its morphological articulation to the spatial confinements, maximising circulation space.
More than just a utilitarian element, the desk has been conceived as a hybrid of furniture, sculpture and architecture. The body of the 5.5m long desk has been made of cast aluminium sections reducing weight and cost and is finished with a sprayed on bronze metal surface. Black Linoleum is forming the desktop surface and custom enclosures in dark stain Oak provide addition storage within the desk.
The Bronze Reception Desk was made in Brighton by Millimetre, marrying the skill of craftsmen with the support of technologically advanced modern manufacturing techniques.
“You could say the desk is the Porsche Carrera of office furniture,” says Albert Hay, Director of the building’s owner, Capital and City Plc. “We were hoping for a design feature in the lobby that would become a talking point. But the architects have exceeded our expectations in the way they have combined functionality with artistic style. Like us, our tenants are deeply impressed and so will their visitors be, when they arrive in the lobby.”
