We are delighted to be amongst the shortlisted practices in the prestigious design competition to design innovative homes in the Lakes and Dales. The open international competition, run by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) on behalf of the Great Place: Lakes and Dales (GPLD) programme, attracted 110 entries from the UK and abroad. The brief called for innovative concepts to flexible housing in a rural setting for either or both sites at Horton-in-Ribblesdale near Settle and Burneside, near Kendal. The overarching aim is to develop accommodation schemes, which will support the retention and attraction of younger people and businesses to the GPLD area.
Richard Dowson, consultant with Great Place: Lakes and Dales said: “It was a tough job for the judging panel to choose the shortlisted three for each site but we are confident that we have exceptionally high quality finalists and are looking forward to seeing their worked-up designs.”
We recently attended a briefing session for the shortlisted practices and are very excited to now develop our proposal for the second stage of the competition.
