This six storey Grade II, flat-fronted Georgian terraced house on Chandos Street dates from the late 18th century with a typically well-ordered street façade of three bays. It is located within the Harley Street Conservation Area north of Oxford Street in central London. Having been used as offices in recent decades, the interiors were significantly altered and the grandeur of the original design compromised.
Balancing Period Features with Contemporary Insertions
Planning permission and listed building consent were obtained to create five self-contained apartments. Patalab was commissioned to develop the detailed design and integrate the needs of the listed historic house with the ambitions of modern living. Reinstated period features are balanced with contemporary insertions such as kitchens, bathrooms and built-in furniture to an exemplary aesthetic effect.
The project was delivered to a tight time frame and within the agreed budget.
